Like most DJs, I got my start in 1984 because of a love for music. I grew up in a great music era, listening to Earth, Wind & Fire, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Motown and many others. I loved Hip Hop right from the start in 1979. I was introduced to DJing when I watched two friends DJ our department parties and after a short time, I wanted to try it. I soon booked our company picnic, a wedding and I was on my way. Getting paid to play music and earn the respect from the people who heard you play was too good to be true.
In my early years, I made numerous trips from South Jersey to Center City Philadelphia to go to my three favorite Record Stores to buy cassette singles, 45’s and albums. To have the latest songs was always the #1 plan. Even as a beginner, I knew that my skills would improve later but playing what the guest wanted to hear was my main priority. After all of these years, nothing has changed. I am still improving my skills and still keep my main focus on playing what people want to hear.
